Voting Question: I am confused about what career path to follow?
I originally wanted to become a psychologist so I went and did health and social care at college and I absolutely loved it! I liked every subject and in the majority of those subjects I put my heart and soul into, I did a bit of care work in residential homes and loved interacting with the resident and the workers and the time flew.
But then I became interested in becoming a manager, owning my own business and opening up a shop abroad – doing what I don’t know!
I remembered as a child that I was always interested in things like aromatherapy and massages and I was quite spiritual, so much that I wanted to be a aromatherapist.
I like helping others weather it is through psychology or physical therapy.
There are two courses at my local college:
#1, complimentary and alternative therapy (lasts 1 – 2) – includes; advanced pathology, reflective reflexology and aromatherapy, anatomy, physiology and BUSINESS STUDIES!
#2, Access Course to health sciences at university (lasts 1 year) – includes; psychology, physiology and health studies.
Right now my heart is telling me to go for the access course because it is a safer option especially where income is concerned, I could easily go into university to study psychology OR physiotherapy or even nursing, but I don’t like the idea of going to work in a hospital under supervision of bosses and managers.
My head is telling me to think about the future and possibly having my own shop abroad which offers a range of body therapy, counseling, beauty therapy, alternative medicine, and which is also a retail shop.
Sometimes I think about just having a full time job in retail or a care home but I know I wont be happy settling with a minimum wage job. I want to get qualifications and travel with the job.
Please answer.
